AWANA is a global ministry dedicated to the discipleship of children and has programs in over 47,000 churches around the world. It seeks to reach children through Scripture-rich experiences that teach them to know Him, love Him and serve Him. The letters of AWANA stand for Approved Workmen Are Not Ashamed from 2 Timothy 2:15 which states: "Be diligent to present yourself approved to God, a worker who does not need to be ashamed, rightly dividing the word of truth." The program is based heavily on Scripture memorization and encourages children to seek out Scripture to better understand God and His truths. Somerset Baptist will have clubs for 3 yrs old through high school. 3 years old through 8th grade meet on Sunday nights at 5pm. High School meets Wednesday nights at 6:30pm.
There are many activities for children at Somerset Baptist Church, including Sunday School classes for 2 years old through the 5th grade, and Children's Church for 4 years old through 3rd grade during our 11am Worship Service on Sunday mornings. We also have nursery available for birth through 3 years old, fully staff with paid and volunteer workers. Various events are offered throughout the year including Vacation Bible School, Summer Camp, Easter Egg Hunt, Halloween event and more.
Our youth ministry strives to educate and equip our youth with the tools necessary to spiritually survive in today's world. It is our goal that our youth withstand the pressures of this wicked world rather than conform to the sins of the world. In order to stand strong our youth must be equipped with the tools necessary to do so. We do this through various events throughout the year including: Sunday School Bible Study, Summer Camp, Disciple Now, Mission Trips, Outreach Events and many more.
Adult Bible Study - Sunday School
We offer many different adult Bible Study classes on Sunday mornings at 9:45am for adults of all ages and walks of life, from seniors in college to seniors in life. Please call the church office if you'd like assistance finding a class that is right for you.
Small Group Bible Studies meet in area homes or the church and are just that—a small group. It is a wonderful time of fellowship as well as great Bible study in a more casual setting. It also gives you the opportunity to develop relationships with others in the group. These small groups meet throughout the year and cover various topical Bible studies and/or books. Please call the church office to find out more information on the different small groups and to find one for you and your family to join.
The Golden Oldies ministry meets every fourth Friday of the month at 10:30am and is for retired adults, although all ages are welcome to attend. The ministry invites local musical talent to come and lead in a time of worship and entertainment. In many ways it is a mini-concert by those who have been invited to perform. Those who attend are asked to bring a lunch potluck item to share. Drinks are provided by the church. We invite everyone who is able to come and be a part of this event. Fun, food and fellowship all in one setting!! Can't ask for much more than that!!
Women on Mission
Our Women on Mission (aka Women's Missionary Union) is for women of all ages and is a ministry focused on helping to reach the lost. The women meet monthly and plan various outreach activities to help spread the Gospel of Christ in our community.
